Chechen Warlord claims responsibility for Janurary Moscow bombings

Chechen warlord Doku Umarov has claimed responsibility for last month's bombing of a Moscow airport.

The suicide bombing at Domodedovo International Airport that left 36 dead and 180 injured occured on the 24th of January.

Umarov stated that the attack was in response to "Russian crimes in the Caucasus."  He promised in an earlier video to turn 2011 into "a year of blood and tears."

He promised the people of Russia that, "We can carry out these operations whenever and wherever we want." Umarov also boasted that he had "hundreds of brothers willing to sacrifice themselves" in even more violent ways.

Umarov himself has devoted himself to creating a "Caucasus Emirate" with the goal of establishing a Muslim state in the Caucasus Mountains under the rule of Sharia Law.  He served as security minister in the Chechen separatist government from 1996-1999.  His group has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings in the Moscow Metro in March of 2010 (39 dead) and it is suspected that he ordered the bombings of a train that had departed from Moscow for St Petersburg in November 2009 (26 dead).

In the video he was especially defiant of Russian former-president and current Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.  He says that Junuary's bombing has proven that their efforts to curtail the Chechen independence efforts have failed.  Umarov also claims to be preparing a "special operation."

New security measures are in place all over Russia  There is a new regional transport chief and Moscow police deputy head.  Moscow's travel bureau is advises arriving four hours before departure time.
