Responding to protests in his country spawned by those in Egypt, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki announced that he would not seek reelection to a third term and that he would return half of his annual salary to the treasury. Furthermore, al-Maliki said that he would increase monthly food rations for all Iraqis by nearly 15,000 Iraqi dinars ($12 US).
