Hosnai Mubarak Steps Down

President Hosnai Mubarak has officially stepped down as president of Egypt.

In a speech he assigned all of the powers of government to a "Higher Council of the Armed Forces."

Parties immediately erupted in the streets of Cairo and elsewhere over Egypt.  Fireworks are exploding in the skies above Tahrir Square. There are rumors that Mubarak's mulit-billion dollar fortune may have been frozen by the Swiss.  He is speculated to be currently residing at an Egyptian resort on the Red Sea.

The Obama White House is to make an official response at 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.

It is speculated by a colleague and myself that Mubarak was pushed out by his generals.  It remains to be seen if Egypt transitions smoothly into true democracy or another military regime is implemented.
